Terms of Use — Lumen

Lumen is a spiritual community where people share prayer requests and pray for one another. By using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Who can use Lumen

You can browse the map and the feed without an account. To post, pray, report, add friends, or use groups you need an account, and you must be at least 13 years old. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your sign-in details to yourself.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you write and of your photo. By posting a prayer, a group name, a display name, an answered-prayer update, or a profile photo, you let us store it and show it to the people it's meant for: everyone, for a public prayer; the members of a group, for a group prayer; and your friends and group-mates, for your name and photo. Only post a photo you have the right to use, of yourself or something you're entitled to share. Public prayers are shown without your name. You can edit or delete anything you posted at any time, and it is removed automatically 30 days after you post it.

Community guidelines

Lumen is a spiritual community, and people share vulnerable things here, prayer requests included. Please help keep it safe:

• Don't post anything hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, or violent, or that encourages self-harm.
• Don't post spam, advertising, or anything meant to sell or promote.
• Don't post other people's private information, or anything that could identify a specific person without their permission.
• Don't impersonate anyone (including by using someone else's photo), and don't use the app to target or bully someone.
• Don't post anything illegal.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior.

Moderation

Prayers are screened automatically before they appear, and some are reviewed by a person. We may hold, remove, or reject any content, and we may restrict or end the account of anyone who breaks these terms, often without notice. Restricted accounts may not be told they are restricted. If you believe we got something wrong, contact us at the address below.

Reporting and blocking

Every prayer has Report and Block buttons. Reports are reviewed by a moderator. Blocking hides a person's prayers from you immediately and removes them from your friends; it doesn't tell them. If you see something that breaks these guidelines, please report it. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services; in the US you can call or text 988.

Notifications and location

Notifications are optional. Prayers shared with everyone use your approximate location to place them on the map; only the general region is ever shown. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle both.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from You → Delete account. It permanently deletes your account and everything you posted. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms.

No warranty, and limits on what we're responsible for

Lumen is provided as is, without promises that it will always be available or free of errors. Prayers are shared by other users, and we don't verify or endorse any of them. Lumen is not a substitute for professional medical, mental-health, legal, or emergency help. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using the app.

Changes

If these terms change we'll update the date above. Continuing to use Lumen after a change means you accept the updated terms.
